I own a French bulldog (CH Fabelhaft Smudge Marc) that, at first, I
wasn't sure would finish or not. I showed him for a year and a
half and had acquired no points. By this point I was beginning
to get upset because I thought that I had a nice dog, but I
wasn't winning. At most of the shows I attended, I was able to
watch Jason Starr and Page Conrad handle their dogs in the ring.
The one thing that sold them most for me was after Jason had
completed his diagonal walk and was coming back around he would
throw one of his dog's favorite toys and let him go get it and
have fun. Well that is exactly what I wanted: To get my dog his
championship and have fun at the same time. All too often I
have seen handlers neglect and not have fun with the dogs they
are showing. So, I decided to go talk to them about showing my
dog and they agreed. I was very nervous about sending my dog
with them because, although they seemed nice, I had just met
them. I also had a concern with my dog's eating habits. He was
known for not eating when I would take him out of town to a show
and I was worried what he would do when he was with Jason and
Page for a month or better at a time. Well, there was no need to
worry because he came home eating better than he did when he
left. They cooked fresh items to put in his food, extra goodies
in his food, etc. They did whatever it took to make sure that he
ate, but still stayed healthy. Grim now loves them like his
second family because of the way they treated him. Jason and
Page never neglected to tell me anything. This is a slight
exaggeration, but if he sneezed wrong they notified me so that I
knew exactly what was happening with my dog; I appreciated that
very much. In the end they ended up showing my dog for almost
three months and he had his championship. It is amazing the
difference that a professional handler, who knows what he/she is
doing, can make. I never could have done it without them and I
thank them for taking great care of my dog and making him CH
Fabelhaft Smudge Marc.
